The Credit is 10% of the sale price of your 2009 home purchase up to $8000. To Take advantage of the full credit, your home price must be $80,000 or more.

To have an $8000 tax bill, a single filer would have to have $46,600 in TAXABLE INCOME, $58,600 for a joint return.  In most cases, those with less taxable income will get a refund as well as having their 2009 taxes paid for them.
